Alongside weekly classes we host special events throughout the year: batizado ceremonies, cord exchanges, and workshops with visiting mestres from Brazil and Europe.

What Is A Batizado?
The batizado is capoeira's baptism, the ceremony where new students step into the roda with a visiting mestre for the first time and receive their first cord (corda). It marks the moment you formally join the capoeira family.
For returning students, the same weekend brings troca de cordas, the cord exchange that recognises another year of training, growth and contribution to the group.
First Cord
New students receive their first corda in the roda, played in by visiting mestres.
Troca De Cordas
Returning students exchange their cord, marking another year in the art.
Live Bateria
Berimbaus, atabaque and pandeiro drive the roda from opening to close.
Family Weekend
Trainings, rodas, workshops and a shared meal, the whole community together.

Deepen The Practice.
Throughout the year we host focused workshops, sometimes led by our own teachers, sometimes by visiting mestres passing through London. Open to members and, where noted, to the wider public.
Visiting Mestres
Intensives with senior teachers from Brazil and across the European lineage.
Movement Intensives
A full session on a single theme: floreios, esquivas, takedowns or au variations.
Music & Instruments
Berimbau, atabaque, pandeiro and singing. Learn the language of the roda.
Cultural Sessions
Maculelê, samba de roda and the traditions that live alongside capoeira.
